An AI video ad is a commercial where some or all of the footage is generated rather than filmed. The idea, the script, the edit and the finish still come from people. At ZR Media, an AI video agency in London, that split is the whole point: AI is the camera crew, and a motion designer is the director and editor.

Where AI video ads work best

  • Product-led spots for drinks, snacks, skincare and gadgets, where the product can be rebuilt accurately from a good photo.
  • Ideas that would be expensive to film: impossible locations, weather, slow-motion splashes, period settings.
  • Testing several hooks or versions of one ad on Meta, TikTok or YouTube before committing a big media budget.
  • Fast turnarounds, when a launch or seasonal moment will not wait for a production schedule.

Where a camera still wins

If the ad has to prove something physical, such as how a fabric moves, how a product feels in the hand or a real customer’s testimonial, film it. We tell clients this regularly. Many of the strongest campaigns mix both: filmed hero moments with AI-generated scenes around them.

How to stop an AI ad looking like AI

  • Lock characters and products with reference sheets before anything is generated.
  • Write the ad first. A strong script survives any production method; a weak one exposes it.
  • Edit it like a commercial. Pacing, sound design, captions and a colour grade do more for believability than any single model.
  • Keep brand details exact. Logos, packaging and type are rebuilt in After Effects rather than left to the model.

What it costs

With no crew, studio, travel or location fees, an AI commercial usually costs a fraction of a traditional shoot, and extra versions for each platform are cheap to add. Every ZR Media format has a fixed starting price on the pricing page, so you know the number before anything starts.

Getting started

Bring one good photo of the product and a sentence about who it is for. On a 15 minute call we will tell you honestly whether AI, a shoot or a mix of the two is the right route.
